A fine choice. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mendez wants to counter with a clinch but Kowalski pushes him away.
Mendez takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Kowalski connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

It looks like Guillermo Mendez has been cut.
Kowalski definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Mendez gets caught napping as Kowalski dives in and scores a takedown. Mendez manages to retain guard.
