Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cletus Strickland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Howell!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howell circles away from the clinch attempt
so Howell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Howell wants to pass the guard but Strickland is keeping the position.
Howell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Strickland pulls Howell in close to prevent any damage.
Howell looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Howell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Strickland works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howell throwing strikes from guard but Strickland blocks nicely.
Strickland will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Howell postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Strickland covers up, he's hurt! Howell keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Howell and the ref steps in to end the fight! Howell can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
