PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Carlton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Razor Maya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlton comes to the cage accompanied by 2Pac - I'm A Soldier (Echale Mojo Remix) . Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Carlton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Razor Maya!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maya bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Carlton's head.
Maya blocks a head kick by Carlton.
And Maya tries to counter it with a takedown but Carlton pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Carlton takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A swing and a miss from Carlton.
Maya moves forwards but Carlton connects with a nice, crisp jab.


It looks like Razor Maya has been cut.
Maya misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Maya lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Carlton on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Carlton throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Carlton jabs Maya right on the nose. Maya blinks but takes it well.
Carlton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maya fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Carlton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Maya was well out of range. Poor timing from Carlton.
Maya bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A big left from Carlton misses.
Maya moves away from the strike by Carlton.
Carlton slips a jab and a cross from Maya.
An attempted straight right counter from Carlton misses the target.
Maya takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A slow jab from Carlton misses its intended target.
Maya looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Carlton needs to keep his hands up - Maya had a free shot at his head there.

Maya catches Carlton napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Carlton to the canvas!

The fighters are battling for position here. Carlton manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Maya content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carlton is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maya is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Maya pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carlton is keeping the position for now.
Carlton has Maya pulled in close to control his posture.
Carlton continues to stall.

Maya wants to control from the top but Carlton keeps moving.
Carlton has momentary wrist control but Maya slips an elbow through the middle.

Maya drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maya jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Carlton pulls Maya in close to prevent any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Maya trying to control but Carlton is working from the bottom.
Maya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carlton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Maya drops back looking for a leg! Carlton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carlton manages to kick Maya off! Maya jumps back into Carlton's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Carlton walks into a jab.
Maya misses with a low kick.
Carlton throwing a counter right hand but Maya manages to avoid it.
Carlton throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Maya defending well as Carlton loads up on a big left hand.
A big right from Carlton misses.
Maya misses with a body shot.
Carlton throws a shot from downtown. Maya moves away and avoids it.
Carlton connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Razor Maya dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Razor Maya's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Carlton shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Maya throws a front kick that sends Carlton stumbling back into the cage.
Carlton throws a sloppy head kick and Maya moves out of range easily.
Carlton getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Maya connects with a good right hand that stumbles Carlton. Carlton circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Carlton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Maya changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Nice defenses there by Maya.

Maya cracks Carlton with an uppercut from hell and Carlton crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Maya's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


Carlton is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Maya throws a big elbow that misses.
Oh Carlton is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Carlton trying to keep a closed guard but Maya is proving a slippery customer.
Maya advances to half guard.
Carlton moves into full guard.
Carlton seems to have got his legs back now.

Carlton utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Carlton looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Maya sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carlton's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Maya is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Carlton wants to control but Maya is keeping busy.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Maya looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Maya seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Carlton is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Razor Maya!
