PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Manuel Corona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spanky Spangler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spangler has chosen WHITE LIGHTNING-by AB as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Manuel Corona!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Spanky Spangler!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Spangler.
Decent striking displayed by Spangler there.
Corona blocks a jab.
Corona went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
A lazy left from Spangler finds it's target.
Spangler works over Corona's head and body with a nice combination.

It looks like Manuel Corona has been cut.
Spangler jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Spangler throws a right and a left that both miss.
It looked like Corona was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Spangler tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Corona was well out of range. Poor timing from Spangler.
Corona looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Corona keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Spangler.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spangler cracks Corona with a right hand to the side of the head.

Corona walks into a big right hand from Spangler and goes down! The referee sends Spangler to a neutral corner as Corona gets back to his feet. He looks OK so we're back under way.
Corona ducks under a wild hook from Spangler.
Corona is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Corona walks into a straight right hand and goes down! Spangler rushes to a neutral corner so the count doesn't get delayed but Corona has made it back to his feet on 5. He's OK so we're back to the action.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Spangler scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Corona to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Spangler away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Corona got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!
Spangler swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Corona takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Spangler dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Spangler paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Spangler throws a hook but Corona blocks it.

Spangler gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Spangler creates a bit of space for himself and unleashed what can only be described as a tiger uppercut, straight out of Street Fighter! Corona crashes to the mat! Can he make it back to his feet in time? 3,4,5, yes, he's made it back to his feet. He seems OK so it looks like we're going to continue!

Manuel Corona's cut is getting worse.
Spangler connects with a quick right hand that sends Corona tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Spanky Spangler!
Spanky Spangler decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
