The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nixon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Johnson, as that shot connected.
Johnson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Johnson lands a jab to the head.
Johnson cracks Nixon with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nixon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
Nixon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nixon somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson jabs Nixon to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Nixon tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.

Nixon's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Johnson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Nixon scrambles back to his feet.
Nixon drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Johnson cracks a nice hook into Nixon's ribs.

Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Nixon might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Nixon is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Nixon. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Adrian Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
