Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cristobal Donaldson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauro Jet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jet has chosen Future - Last Breath as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cristobal Donaldson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mauro Jet!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jet darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Donaldson is trying is best to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Donaldson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jet is trying to control the action in half guard but Donaldson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Donaldson gets full guard.
Donaldson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jet looking to sit in guard and control but Donaldson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jet is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Donaldson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jet wants to sweep here but Donaldson controlling him for the moment.

Jet controls Donaldson momentarily but Donaldson frees himself.
Jet throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Donaldson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Donaldson stands and throws Jet's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Jet's face as Donaldson controls the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Donaldson decides to stand back up. Donaldson steps back and let's Jet get back to his feet.

Jet tries to keep at a distance but Donaldson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Jet drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jet in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jet forces his way into half guard.
Jet throwing shots but Donaldson is blocking nicely.

Jet tries to stand and escape but Donaldson is controlling the position.

Jet throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Donaldson tries to kick Jet off but Jet keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jet seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Donaldson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jet is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jet throws a strike but Donaldson avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Jet is looking to work some ground and pound but Donaldson has wrist control.

Jet postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Donaldson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jet, into his guard.

Jet tries to strike from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jet is looking to stand up but Donaldson isn't so interested in that idea.
Jet managing to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cristobal Donaldson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Jet shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jet showed some decent athleticism there.
Donaldson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jet on the ground.
Jet is pressing down on Donaldson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Donaldson is holding on for now.
Jet has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Donaldson wants to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Donaldson avoids the head kick by Jet.

Jet forces Donaldson back against the cage and clinches.

Jet pulls guard.
Jet trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Donaldson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jet is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jet can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Donaldson controls the pace.

Jet is working an open guard so Donaldson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Donaldson throws out a leg kick but Jet moves out of range and Donaldson only half commits.

Donaldson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Donaldson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Donaldson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Donaldson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Jet thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Donaldson gets to his feet - Jet follows without any prompting.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Donaldson enables Jet to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Donaldson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jet is breathing heavily.

Jet is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jet won't allow Donaldson to get back to his feet.
Jet controlling from the top position.
Jet postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jet passes easily into side control. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mauro Jet showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Donaldson takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Donaldson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jet wants to stand up but Donaldson is controlling him.
Donaldson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jet is proving hard to escape from.

Jet working for a triangle but Donaldson defends it easily.
Donaldson is looking to stand up but Jet won't let him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Donaldson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jet circles away quickly and effectively.
Jet is looking for the big counter here.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jet pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jet leaves Donaldson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jet shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jet showed some decent athleticism there.
Jet takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jet is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jet stalling away here and it's allowed Donaldson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Jet pushes down on Donaldson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Donaldson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Jet manages to move to mount!
Donaldson is desperately trying to improve his position but Jet has a good base and remains in mount.
Donaldson holds on for dear life.
Jet raining down hammerfists from mount.

Jet tries to control but Donaldson wriggling away.
Donaldson tries to hold on but Jet pushes him away.

Jet goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Donaldson turns into him and now he's in Jet's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Donaldson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mauro Jet comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
