PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rosendo Robbins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Scissors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rosendo Robbins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chase Scissors!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robbins keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
As Scissors looks to move away, Robbins throws a big counter combo but Scissors just gets out of the way.
Robbins misses with a head kick.

Scissors closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Robbins trying to remain calm as Scissors controls from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scissors is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Robbins is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scissors controlling the position from side mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Robbins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Scissors working the head and body with strikes.
Scissors content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Robbins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scissors on the ground.

Scissors wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Robbins, who protects the arm well.
Robbins really is a fat lump.
Scissors wants to stand but Robbins is controlling his arm.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Scissors lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Robbins down.

You can see the frustration on Robbins's face as Scissors controls the position.

Robbins is looking to regain half guard here but Scissors keeps moving and retains side control.
Scissors happy to just control the position for now.
Robbins trying to control but Scissors flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Robbins wants to control his opponent's hands but Scissors gets his hands free.
Scissors has the hooks in. Robbins is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Robbins is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Scissors.

Robbins is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Scissors gets his way!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Scissors moves into range and clinches up with Robbins.

Scissors pulls guard successfully.
Scissors avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Scissors is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Robbins defends well.

Robbins has gone for a leg lock! Scissors slips out almost immediately though and dives into Robbins's guard.

Robbins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Scissors gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Scissors. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Robbins is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Scissors thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Scissors looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Robbins is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Scissors dives in for a single leg takedown but Robbins sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Rosendo Robbins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Scissors tries for a takedown but Robbins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Robbins feinted with a counter takedown.
Rosendo Robbins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chase Scissors.
Scissors throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Scissors swats away the attempt to clinch by Robbins.

Scissors shoots in for a takedown but Robbins shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Scissors is breathing heavily.
Scissors tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Robbins paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Scissors throws a head kick but Robbins moves out of range.
Robbins swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Robbins misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Scissors feints the counter takedown.
Robbins walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Scissors checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Scissors closes the distance but Robbins moves to the side
and Robbins counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Scissors thinking.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Scissors closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Robbins's guard.
Robbins is looking to stand back up but Scissors counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Robbins.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chase Scissors showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Robbins wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Scissors manages to pass to side control.

Scissors is continuing to stall.

Scissors working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Robbins's thigh. Robbins counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Scissors slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Robbins working for submissions but it's allowed Scissors to get to half guard.
Chase Scissors has got the better of the ground game so far.
Robbins tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Robbins tries to kick Scissors off but Scissors keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Scissors content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Robbins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Scissors looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Robbins with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Scissors is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Scissors seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Let's hope that Scissors has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Scissors tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Robbins.

Scissors lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Robbins is trying to control but can't.
Scissors with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Scissors drops an elbow to the side of Robbins's head.
Robbins is trying to control but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Scissors prevents Robbins from improving his position.
Robbins is trying to maintain the position but Scissors is very close to passing his half guard.
Scissors passes into side control, despite Robbins's attempt to control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Scissors is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Robbins's shoulder. That is not cool.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chase Scissors comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Scissors winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
