Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Faustino Washington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Barry Weldon!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weldon keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Weldon fails with a takedown attempt.
Weldon avoids the head kick by Washington.
As Washington backs off Weldon throws a huge counter combo but Washington manages to avoid it all.

Weldon moves into the clinch.

Washington is trying to trip Weldon. He has hold of a leg but Weldon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Washington persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Weldon is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Washington dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Weldon trying his best to control but Washington has mounted him.
Washington wants to control the pace but Weldon is squirming around nicely.

You get the feeling that Weldon really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Washington is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Weldon to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Weldon shrugs it off.

Washington has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Washington jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Weldon manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Washington really is a fat lump.
Washington is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Weldon will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Washington wants to control but Weldon is keeping him busy.
Weldon is trying to work for a sweep but Washington has mounted him!
Weldon tries to hold on but Washington postures up.

Washington is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Weldon has managed to escape the submission attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Washington get's back to his feet.
Washington is looking to chop away at Weldon's legs.
Despite the aggression on Weldon's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Washington shoots and misses
and Washington takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Washington connects with a high kick.
Weldon lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Weldon throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Washington shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Weldon sprawls well. Weldon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Washington gets slowly back to his feet.
Weldon lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Faustino Washington dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Weldon misses with a combination
and Washington counters with a leg kick.
Washington throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Weldon let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Weldon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Washington doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Washington wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Weldon, who protects the arm well.

Washington misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Washington throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Weldon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Weldon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Weldon is breathing heavily.
Washington misses with a head kick.
Weldon checks a low kick from Washington.

Weldon gets caught flat footed, as Washington shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Washington gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Washington throws a head kick but Weldon moves out of range.
Weldon throws out a counter right but Washington avoids it with no problem.

Washington rushes Weldon and presses him up against the cage.
Weldon wants to get back to striking at distance but Washington won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Washington is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Weldon pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Washington tries for a takedown but Weldon manages to get underhooks.
Weldon lands with a short shot to the head.

Washington gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Washington gets to his feet. Weldon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Washington throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Weldon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Washington is in Weldon's guard.
Weldon is looking to stand back up but Washington counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Weldon.


Washington decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Washington throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Faustino Washington dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Washington tries a head kick but it misses.
Washington is looking to clinch but Weldon is avoiding it.
Weldon comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Barry Weldon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Weldon tries to close the distance and clinch but Washington swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Washington tries to counter by clinching up but Weldon breaks away and moves out of range.
Weldon throws a right hand that Washington ducks under and follows up with a left that Washington also avoids with ease.
Washington jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Washington throws a head kick that misses.
Weldon wants to counter with a clinch but Washington pushes him away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weldon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Washington shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Weldon counters with a three punch combo that has Washington backing up. Washington nods at Weldon to acknowledge the strikes.
Weldon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Washington throws a push kick but Weldon slaps the foot to one side.
Washington throws a head kick but Weldon moves out of range.
Weldon is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Washington gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Weldon.
Weldon is looking to clinch but Washington is avoiding it.
Weldon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Washington.
Weldon shapes to counter with a head kick.
Washington throws a head kick that misses.

Weldon tries to keep at a distance but Washington has taken the fight into the clinch.
Barry Weldon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Weldon is trying to push Washington away but Washington has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Washington jumps guard but Weldon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Faustino Washington. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Washington wants the takedown. Weldon is fighting it off but Washington persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Weldon's guard against the cage.

Washington throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Weldon's waist but Weldon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Washington off to one side.

Washington shoots in but Weldon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Weldon throws a right hand that Washington ducks under and follows up with a left that Washington also avoids with ease.

I would just about give that final round to Barry Weldon.
