Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Errol Valencia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Valencia circles away quickly and effectively.
Valencia is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Jackson.
Valencia looks to land a combination but Jackson avoids it well.

Valencia gets tackled into the cage by Jackson. Jackson maintains the clinch.
Valencia tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Valencia taking a breather.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses.
Valencia attempts a counter takedown but Jackson avoids it well and moves away.
Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jackson tries to bum rush Valencia with a series of wild strikes but Valencia uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Valencia swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valencia just misses with a punch to the body.
And Jackson tries to counter it with a takedown but Valencia pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Valencia shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jackson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Valencia on his heels. He'll look to pass Valencia's guard now, I'm sure.

Valencia has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jackson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Valencia.
Jackson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Valencia sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Valencia has gone for a leg lock! Jackson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Valencia's guard.

Jackson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Valencia can't keep his opponent in guard - Jackson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Valencia won't allow Jackson to pass to mount.
Well, if Jackson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jackson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jackson showed some decent athleticism there.

Jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

John Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Valencia misses with a combination

and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Valencia's guard.
Jackson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jackson is continuing to stall.
Valencia is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jackson is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jackson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valencia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jackson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Valencia pinned against the cage. Valencia gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Valencia counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Valencia.

Jackson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Valencia.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Valencia sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
