Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodeo Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franky Yip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franky Yip!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yip decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Yip is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Yip is nestled in close to Joe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yip in particular looking to stall.

Let's hope that Yip has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like Yip might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Yip got a little sloppy there for a moment and Joe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yip has managed to get both his arms back between Joe's legs - danger averted.

It looks like Rodeo Joe has been cut.
Yip frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Joe is looking to improve his position but Yip isn't that keen on the idea.
The referee warns Joe that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Joe is trying to escape the mount.
Yip tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Yip's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Joe is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Yip sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Joe is wriggling around trying to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yip is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Joe can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Yip has hold of Joe's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Joe manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Rodeo Joe's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Joe is trying desperately to improve position.

I really don't envy Joe right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Yip scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Yip!


Jeez, Rodeo Joe's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Yip throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Joe tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Yip is in Joe's guard.

Yip is pushing down on Joe's leg trying to pass to half guard. Joe is fighting to maintain full guard but Yip has managed to sneak the leg through.
Yip has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Yip stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Joe dodges the punch combination from Yip.
Joe tries to counter with a takedown but Yip is quick to defend against it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yip lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Joe circles away quickly and effectively.

Yip throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Joe attempts a counter takedown but Yip avoids it well and moves away.

Yip closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Joe did well to prevent Yip getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joe is looking for a sweep. Yip is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Yip lands a nice short elbow.
Well, if Yip is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Yip seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
