PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Fierro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jefferson Murillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jefferson Murillo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Fierro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jefferson Murillo!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fierro misses with a looping right.
Fierro throws a push kick but Murillo slaps the foot to one side.
Fierro on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Murillo.
Murillo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Fierro tries to bench press Murillo off him but Murillo keeps the position.
Murillo cracks Fierro with a big elbow.
Fierro is looking to regain half guard here but Murillo keeps moving and retains side control.
Murillo cracks Fierro with a big right hand but Fierro just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
You can see the frustration on Fierro's face as Murillo controls the position.
Murillo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fierro is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Murillo throws a strike aimed at the side of Fierro's head but Fierro avoids it well.
A lull in the action here.
Fierro is working to avoid the ground and pound but Murillo connects with a decent elbow.
Fierro takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Murillo wants to control but Fierro is keeping him busy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Fierro takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fierro manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Fierro is trying to work for a kimura but Murillo is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murillo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fierro.
Fierro stalling away here and it's allowed Murillo to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Fierro prevents Murillo from getting back to his feet.
Fierro is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Soul Supremacy Rio that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Fierro missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Fierro stops Murillo from standing up.
Fierro throws an elbow that misses. Murillo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fierro's guard. Nice move by Murillo!

Fierro not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fierro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Murillo is controlling him.
Murillo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Murillo wants to control from the top but Fierro keeps moving.
Murillo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Murillo is looking to work some ground and pound but Fierro has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jefferson Murillo dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Murillo blocks the body kick.
Murillo now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Carlos Fierro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fierro misses with a left hand

so Murillo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Fierro has his feet on Murillo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Murillo dodges the punch combination from Fierro.

Murillo lands a glancing blow to the side of Fierro's head.
Fierro pulls out of a head kick attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Murillo darts in looking for a takedown but Fierro gets double underhooks and turns Murillo into the cage.

Fierro throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Murillo counters with a stiff right hand.

letting Murillo counter with a right hand.
Fierro lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Murillo circles away quickly and effectively.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fierro's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Murillo connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Fierro scrambles back to his feet.


Fierro is rocked!
Fierro fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Oh Fierro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fierro misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Murillo.
Fierro seems to have got his legs back now.
Fierro throws a combination that misses
and Murillo counters with a nice uppercut.
Danga de danga de dang - Murillo scores with a four punch combination!
Fierro swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Murillo counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fierro throws a head kick that misses
and Fierro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Fierro throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Murillo jabs Fierro to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Murillo drops Fierro with a big left hand and mounts him. Fierro is in big trouble!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Murillo postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Fierro in real trouble here! The ref calls for Fierro to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jefferson Murillo!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Jefferson Murillo waved his t-shirt featuring Flying Knee Clothing's logo in front of the cameras.
