Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Linford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slava Ivankov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Linford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Slava Ivankov!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Linford gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ivankov is working for takedown but Linford is calmly controlling the position for now.

Ivankov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Linford stacks Ivankov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Linford!

Linford tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ivankov defends well and Linford ends up having to push Ivankov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Ivankov should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Ivankov drops back looking for a leg! Linford is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Linford manages to kick Ivankov off! Ivankov jumps back into Linford's guard.

Ivankov lands a couple of digs.

Linford has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ivankov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Slava Ivankov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ivankov tightens his grip and picks Linford up, before dumping him to the ground. Linford manages to land in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ivankov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ivankov wants to stand but Linford has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ivankov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Linford got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ivankov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Linford has managed to get both his arms back between Ivankov's legs - danger averted.
Linford stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ivankov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ivankov just misses with a punch to the body.
Linford went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Ivankov misses with a body shot.
Linford tries for a takedown but Ivankov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Some bone on bone action there as Linford checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Linford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Linford gets a clinch.
Ivankov effectively controlling the action here.
Linford is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ivankov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Linford. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Linford jumps guard and drags Ivankov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

I would just about give that final round to Slava Ivankov.
I think Ivankov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
