The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots and misses
enabling Gardner to counter with a crisp jab.
Gardner misses with a few strikes there.
Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gardner is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Gardner circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gardner but Gardner pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gardner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.

Gardner seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Gardner for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Gardner has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position.
Gardner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

Gardner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Jones is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gardner scores with a couple of nice shots.
Jones throws a strike from the bottom but Gardner passes into side control!

Gardner has an Americana. Jones didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gardner is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gardner hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
