Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Renzo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Yossarian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Renzo Alves !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Yossarian!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yossarian lets loose with a powerful body kick. Alves will feel that in the morning.
Yossarian throws a front kick that sends Alves stumbling back into the cage.
Alves stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Yossarian.
Alves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Alves swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Alves throws out a loose jab but Yossarian uses good head movement to avoid it.
Yossarian throws a nice inside leg kick.
Yossarian wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Yossarian throws a leg kick that misses.
Alves drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Yossarian looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Alves blocks a leg kick.
Yossarian connects with a crisp jab.
Yossarian's coach down at The Butcher's Block was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Yossarian's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Yossarian waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Alves . Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Alves to the canvas! Can he finish him!?


Alves is rocked!


It looks like Renzo Alves has been cut.
Alves trying to strike off his back.
Oh Alves is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Alves seems to have got his legs back now.
Yossarian stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alves swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alves thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Yossarian won't allow Alves to sweep him here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Yossarian scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alves doesn't seem bothered though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Alves crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Yossarian - the referee stops the clock and Alves gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Yossarian. Alves manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Yossarian defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alves .
Yossarian connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Alves momentarily.
Alves tries a head kick but it misses.
Yossarian misses with a low kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Alves checks a leg kick.
Alves is looking for a counter combo.
A solid body kick from Yossarian.
A head kick by Yossarian - that's a beauty! Alves is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Yossarian can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). John Yossarian! John Yossarian retains his featherweight title!
After winning the bout, John Yossarian thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
