Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joseph Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Runar Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice inside leg kick there by Nelson. That's going to slow Hughes down.
Runar Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson wants to clinch.
Hughes is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Nelson.
Nice takedown defense from Hughes. No joy for Nelson on that attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nelson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nelson stuns Hughes with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice sprawl there from Hughes as Nelson shoots in.
An attempted straight right counter from Hughes misses the target.
Nelson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hughes. That did some damage!
Hughes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nelson swivels and escapes.
Hughes swats away the attempt to clinch by Nelson.

Nelson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nelson tries to clinch up but Hughes circles away and keeps his distance.
Hughes instigates a clinch.
Nelson tries to pull guard but Hughes holds him up against the cage and eventually Nelson drops back down to his feet.
Joseph Hughes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Runar Nelson.
Hughes is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Nelson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Nelson tries to pull guard but Hughes forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hughes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nelson tries to clinch up
and Hughes counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hughes passes into half guard.
Hughes is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Nelson is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
