Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Todd Cannon!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson throws a front kick aimed at Cannon's knee but Cannon avoids it well.
Cannon is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Peterson closes the distance and clinches.
Cannon misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Peterson.
Cannon letting Peterson take a breather here.
Cannon is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Cannon is trying to break the clinch but Peterson is controlling him.
Peterson looking to throw knees to the head but Cannon is blocking nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson has clasped his hands together around Cannon's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Cannon is trying to get back to half guard.
Cannon wants to control but Peterson postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peterson just content to control the position.
Cannon tries to buck Peterson off but Peterson is having none of it.
Cannon felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Peterson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Cannon is looking to reverse the position.
Peterson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Cannon managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Peterson.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Peterson controlling the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Peterson lands an elbow.
Peterson working away.
Peterson wants to stand but Cannon is controlling his arm.
Cannon seems a little lost for a moment, as Peterson dominates the positioning.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Peterson avoids the body shot from Cannon.
Peterson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Todd Cannon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Peterson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cannon did well to prevent Peterson getting side control.
Peterson slows the pace down in half guard.
Cannon trying to control from the bottom.
Cannon keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Peterson performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Peterson prevents Cannon from improving his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Peterson in particular looking to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Peterson misses the shot to the body.
It seemed like Cannon was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Cannon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Peterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Peterson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Peterson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Peterson lands in his opponent's guard.
Peterson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Peterson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Peterson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cannon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson is posturing up here but Cannon has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Peterson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Peterson has to tap! Slick submission there by Cannon!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Todd Cannon!
