Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martin Pedersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmey John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jimmey John!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pedersen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No luck for Pedersen with that takedown attempt.
Pedersen throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

John drives through and clinches with Pedersen against the cage.
Pedersen wants to break free but John has control.
John can't get the takedown.

John pulls guard successfully.
John looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pedersen is one step ahead there.
Pedersen wants to control from the top but John keeps moving.
Pedersen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
John cracks Pedersen with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
John tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

John closes the distance and pushes Pedersen back into the cage.

John breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pedersen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. John tries to avoid it but Pedersen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag John to the ground. John escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

John wants to take the fight to the mat but Pedersen manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Pedersen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics John uses from the top position.

Jimmey John showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. John connects with a nice short shot to Pedersen's temple.
John looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pedersen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jimmey John comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well John has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
