And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Cook!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ben Watson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cook scores with a takedown into Basquez's guard.
Basquez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Cook slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Basquez wants to get back to his feet but Cook is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cook's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Basquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Basquez wants to stand but Cook is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cook stays in close to Basquez's body and controls the position.
Let's hope that Cook has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Cook scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cook's corner. There ya go! There ya go!


Basquez is rocked!
Cook loads up on a big left hand. Basquez felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Cook looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Basquez can't hide his disappointment, as Cook celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Cook!
