The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Daniels is trying to defend but Smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Daniels looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniels keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Daniels could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Smith is trying to control. Daniels wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Daniels's head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daniels has one foot on Smith's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Smith rushes Daniels and presses him up against the cage.
Smith wants the takedown. Daniels is fighting it off but Smith persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Daniels's guard against the cage.

Smith loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Daniels tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Daniels is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Daniels knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Daniels takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Smith lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Daniels down.
Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Daniels is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Smith is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Daniels is trying to escape and Smith transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Daniels is forced to tap! Nice work there by Smith! Very nice indeed!
