Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Larry Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin ODonnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Larry Mayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Colin ODonnell!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from ODonnell.
Mayer has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Larry Mayer has been cut.
A head kick misses from Mayer.

ODonnell moves into the clinch.

ODonnell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
ODonnell dives in for a single leg takedown but Mayer sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
ODonnell shoots in and drives through. Mayer sprawls well.
Larry Mayer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colin ODonnell.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
ODonnell dives in and grabs Mayer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mayer pushes down on ODonnell's head and hops out.
Mayer tries to clinch up but ODonnell circles away and keeps his distance.
ODonnell is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Mayer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching ODonnell on his heels. He'll look to pass ODonnell's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

ODonnell is looking for a triangle but Mayer pushes his legs off easily.
Mayer won't allow ODonnell to sweep him here.
Mayer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

ODonnell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mayer defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mayer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mayer trying to control the position from guard on top but ODonnell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now ODonnell is on top in guard.


ODonnell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mayer is pulling down on ODonnell's head. It's preventing any offense from ODonnell, at least for the moment.

Mayer throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! ODonnell escapes and throws Mayer's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Mayer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mayer is looking for a sweep.

ODonnell stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Mayer throws the kick towards the body but ODonnell avoids it.
Mayer sets himself, and ODonnell steps forward looking for the clinch! Mayer avoids it this time.

ODonnell has managed to clinch.

ODonnell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
ODonnell fails with a takedown attempt.
Mayer shoots in but no luck this time.
Mayer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
ODonnell shoots in but no luck this time.
ODonnell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mayer was well out of range. Poor timing from ODonnell.

ODonnell blocks a head kick by Mayer.
ODonnell throws out a counter right but Mayer avoids it with no problem.
Mayer throws a sloppy head kick and ODonnell moves out of range easily.
Mayer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from ODonnell.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
ODonnell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mayer circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Larry Mayer will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


ODonnell moves out of range of the body kick.
ODonnell keeps the fight on the outside.
ODonnell goes for a double leg but Mayer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mayer continues to drive forward.

ODonnell rushes Mayer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mayer dodges an elbow strike from ODonnell.
ODonnell is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mayer to keep the fight standing.

Mayer gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mayer is trying to control the action in half guard but ODonnell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mayer not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

ODonnell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mayer, pushing him back against the cage.
Mayer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but ODonnell gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mayer jumps into guard, dragging ODonnell to the mat.

ODonnell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

ODonnell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

ODonnell decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mayer, up you get!
Mayer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A head kick by Mayer misses
and ODonnell counters with a nice body shot.

ODonnell moves into range and clinches up with Mayer.
ODonnell is trying to drag Mayer to the mat but Mayer just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

ODonnell drags the fight down to the ground.
ODonnell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now ODonnell is on top in guard.


ODonnell gets to his feet. Mayer looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

ODonnell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mayer jumps guard but ODonnell stands there with Mayer around his waist. Mayer gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

ODonnell has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mayer uses from the top position.

ODonnell is trying to control the position but Mayer postures up.
Mayer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
ODonnell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Colin ODonnell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Mayer tries for a takedown but ODonnell circles away easily

Mayer throws a lazy right hand but ODonnell sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
ODonnell thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mayer if he has to take too many more of those.
ODonnell shoots in but no luck this time.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as ODonnell takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mayer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but ODonnell pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mayer is pressed up against the cage. ODonnell has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mayer down to the mat. Mayer avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

ODonnell has gone for a leg lock! Mayer slips out almost immediately though and dives into ODonnell's guard.

Colin ODonnell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think ODonnell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
