PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stan Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harlan Crowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crowe comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Irigy Hónaljmirigy - Rúgj Chuck Norris (Chuck Norris parody by Hungarians) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Stan Marsh has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stan Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harlan Crowe!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crowe looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Crowe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Marsh takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Marsh moves out of range of the body kick.
Crowe throws out a leg kick but Marsh moves out of range and Crowe only half commits.
Crowe with a lazy takedown attempt
and Marsh counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Harlan Crowe has been cut.
Harlan Crowe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crowe dives in for a single leg takedown but Marsh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Crowe closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Marsh quickly recovers to half guard.
Crowe is nestled in close to Marsh, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Crowe prevents Marsh from improving his position.
Crowe lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Crowe is working for a kimura but Marsh is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marsh tries to get to full guard but Crowe has control of the leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Crowe connects with a nice short shot to Marsh's temple.
Crowe moves nicely into side control.

Crowe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Crowe takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Marsh is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at GTi 888 that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Crowe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Marsh knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Crowe prevents Marsh from improving his position.
Crowe throwing shots but Marsh is blocking nicely.
Marsh keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Marsh trying to hold on to Crowe's head to control him but Crowe postures up.
Crowe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Crowe wants to pass to mount but Marsh is defending the position.
Marsh is trying to stand back up but Crowe is controlling him
Crowe thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marsh's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marsh works his way to full guard. Good work.
Crowe with a nice head shot there.

Marsh utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Marsh avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Crowe tries to free his leg and advance position but Marsh is retaining full guard.
Crowe stops Marsh from standing up.
Marsh preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Crowe with a flurry of punches that miss.
Crowe trying to control the position from guard on top but Marsh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Crowe throwing strikes but missing.
Crowe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Crowe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Crowe keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Marsh's head.
Marsh trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crowe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Marsh trying to control the position.
Crowe won't allow Marsh to sweep him here.
Crowe prevents Marsh from getting back to his feet.
Crowe postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Crowe works over Marsh with some ground and pound from guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Crowe's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Marsh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Crowe's guard.


Crowe has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Marsh doesn't defend quickly enough and Crowe has managed to lock this one up! Can Marsh escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Crowe on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Harlan Crowe!
Harlan Crowe was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
