Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Keys (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kay Mar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Kay Mar enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kyle Keys!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kay Mar!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Keys moves into the clinch.
Mar looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Keys has had enough of the clinch but Mar keeps him there for the moment.
Mar throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Keys blocks it with crossed arms.

Keys breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Keys swivels and escapes.
Keys fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kay Mar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Keys throws a head kick that misses.

Keys gets caught napping as Mar dives in and scores a takedown. Keys manages to retain guard.

Keys pushes Mar off and gets back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mar.
Keys misses with a hook. Mar ducked under it nicely.
Mar has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Keys is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Keys is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mar's half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Keys decides to stand and escape the position.

Keys shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mar is trying to defend but Keys finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Keys postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Mar to stand up.

Keys moves into the clinch successfully.
Mar stops a takedown attempt from Keys.
Keys jumps guard but Mar stands there with Keys around his waist. Keys gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Keys. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Keys wants to get back to striking at distance but Mar won't allow it.

Keys wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Keys looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Keys drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mar gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mar tries to land a knee to the head but Keys blocks with his arms.
Keys tries to pull guard but Mar forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Mar using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Keys has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Mar blocks an elbow strike.
Keys is looking for a takedown.
Keys tries for a takedown. No joy.

Keys manages to break the clinch.

Keys drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Keys is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Mar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Keys working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Keys lands a nice forearm strike.
Mar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Keys is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Keys stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Keys fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mar to the ground. Keys is now in Mar's guard.
Keys controlling from the top position.
Keys scoring with punches to the head and body.
Keys slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Keys decides to stand back up. Keys steps back and let's Mar get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Keys dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Mar enables Keys to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Keys sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Mar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Keys slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Mar keeping full guard, as Keys tries to pass.
Keys is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mar can do to turn this around?
Mar is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keys looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Keys lands a couple of elbows.

Mar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Keys controls the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Keys has Mar up against the cage in a clinch.
Keys wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Keys goes for a takedown attempt but Mar pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mar ducks under a wild hook from Keys.

Keys has taken the fight to the clinch.
Keys is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Keys wants a takedown but no success here.
Mar keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Keys's efforts to push away.
Keys is trying to stall.
Mar misses with a knee strike.

Mar tries for a takedown but Keys manages to get underhooks.
Keys stalls.

Keys successfully pulls guard.
Keys controlling Mar's posture.
Keys wants to sweep but no luck.

Keys has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Mar doesn't defend quickly enough and Keys has managed to lock this one up! Can Mar escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Keys on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kyle Keys!
Our winner, Kyle Keys, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
