PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nine Shots (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shots comes to the cage accompanied by Bad Mofo - Jai One ft. Charlie Blaze. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rock has Shots up against the cage in a clinch.
Shots tries a knee to the head but Rock blocks it.

Rock ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rock no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rock keeping moving, preventing Shots from controlling successfully.
Shots missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shots trying to control but Rock is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rock can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shots stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rock swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shots has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rock working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rock controls Shots momentarily but Shots frees himself.
Rock seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Shots shoots in looking for a takedown. Rock tries to sprawl out of it but Shots keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rock fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Shots tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Shots closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rock circles away.
Rock misses with a takedown attempt - Shots sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nine Shots has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pete Rock.

Shots tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rock sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shots somewhat.
Rock looks for a takedown but Shots sprawls well.
Shots defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rock.

Shots decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rock pushes Shots off and gets back to his feet.
Rock looks winded!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rock moves into the clinch.

Rock has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Shots uses from the top position.
Rock wants to sweep but no luck.

Shots throws a big elbow that misses.
Shots wants to control from the top but Rock keeps moving.
Rock is looking to stand up but Shots isn't so interested in that idea.

Shots trying to control the position from guard on top but Rock is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shots controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A nice combination there by Shots.

It looks like Pete Rock has been cut.
Shots throws a head kick that Rock semi-blocks.
Rock throws a right and a left that both miss.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rock is defended easily by Shots.
As Rock looks to move away, Shots throws a big counter combo bu Rock just gets out of the way.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shots misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pete Rock will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Nice sprawl there from Shots as Rock shoots in.
Shots shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rock but Rock pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Shots gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shots has his feet on Rock's thighs here. He's pushed Rock off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Rock screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
