Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Kovalenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Hearns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hearns is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Black Eyed Bruiser. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hearns on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Hearns scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kovalenko doesn't seem bothered though.
Hearns avoids the head kick by Kovalenko.

Hearns tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kovalenko counters with a straight right hand.
Kovalenko tries to keep at a distance but Hearns has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hearns breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kovalenko tries to bum rush Hearns with a series of wild strikes but Hearns uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kovalenko is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Hearns avoids the head kick by Kovalenko.
Kovalenko stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hearns tests Kovalenko's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hearns lands a big right hand that sends Kovalenko crashing to the mat! Hearns stays standing though and waves Kovalenko back to his feet!

Hearns connects with an inside leg kick.
We've been informed that Hearns has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Kovalenko lands a left and a right that send Hearns crashing to the mat, dazed. Kovalenko thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Thomas Hearns has been cut.
Kovalenko blocks a jab.

Oh Kovalenko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hearns swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kovalenko was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kovalenko throws a nice looking combination but Hearns bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kovalenko throws a series of punches but Hearns moves out of range.
Hearns has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hearns has Kovalenko pressed against the cage, preventing Kovalenko from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kovalenko blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hearns is trying to break the clinch but Kovalenko has him pressed against the cage.

Hearns breaks from the clinch.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Kovalenko! Hearns is out on his feet! Kovalenko rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Hearns is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Hearns is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
