Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Karlsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hirohito Sato!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karlsson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sato momentarily.
Karlsson scores with the left hand. Sato knows he should have avoided that one.
Karlsson lands a jab to the head.
It looks like Hirohito Sato has been cut.
Sato is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Karlsson.
Sato on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Karlsson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sato stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Left hook, right uppercut from Karlsson.
Sato looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Karlsson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sato drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Karlsson looks to score with a jab to the body but Sato is just out of range.
Karlsson cracks Sato with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Sato takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Sato keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Karlsson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sato moves away.
Sato walks into a straight right hand from Karlsson.
Sato is rocked!
Karlsson cracks Sato on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Sato falls backwards against the cage. Karlsson follows up with more strikes that drop Sato to his knees. Karlsson keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Sato! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Karlsson!
In his post fight interview, Steve Karlsson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
