Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Appleseed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guillermo Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guillermo Mendez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Appleseed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Guillermo Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez avoids the head kick by Appleseed.
Mendez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Appleseed pinned against the cage. Appleseed gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mendez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Appleseed but Appleseed pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Appleseed swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Appleseed fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mendez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Appleseed drives through and clinches with Mendez against the cage.
Appleseed breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Appleseed looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Appleseed displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Appleseed smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Appleseed slaps away a takedown attempt from Mendez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Johnny Appleseed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guillermo Mendez.
Appleseed throws a head kick that misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mendez.
Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Appleseed paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Appleseed throws out a loose jab but Mendez uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Appleseed lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Mendez fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Mendez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mendez shoots in and gets a takedown into Appleseed's guard.
Appleseed is looking to stand up but Mendez isn't so interested in that idea.
Appleseed is breathing heavily.
Mendez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Appleseed keeping moving, preventing Mendez from controlling successfully.
Mendez prevents Appleseed from getting back to his feet.
Mendez is standing up over Appleseed. Appleseed looks to escape but Mendez dives into side control.

Mendez trying to control the position but Appleseed is working away.
Mendez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mendez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Appleseed knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mendez throws a strike aimed at the side of Appleseed's head but Appleseed avoids it well.
Appleseed knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendez on the ground.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mendez is looking to take a break and control but Appleseed is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mendez throws an elbow but Appleseed slips to the side and avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Appleseed will probably get the nod.
That's time! Appleseed's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mendez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Johnny Appleseed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Appleseed tries a head kick but it misses.
Mendez shoots in but Appleseed avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Mendez moves out of range as Appleseed throws a body kick.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mendez or perhaps it was just good defense by Appleseed, which made it look bad.

Mendez blocks a head kick by Appleseed.
Appleseed has Mendez up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendez wants to take the fight to the mat but Appleseed manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mendez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Appleseed fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mendez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Appleseed's waist but Appleseed gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mendez off to one side.
Appleseed leaves Mendez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mendez fails with the takedown.
Mendez doesn't manage to clinch there - Appleseed circles away.
Appleseed tries to work over Mendez's front leg with a kick but Mendez checks it.
Mendez wants to clinch up but Appleseed keeps it at a distance.
Mendez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Appleseed but Appleseed pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Appleseed appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Appleseed tries a head kick but it misses.
Appleseed tests Mendez's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mendez shoots for a takedown but Appleseed saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Appleseed shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Appleseed was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mendez can't do much from the bottom here.

Mendez sneaks back into half guard.
Mendez works his way to full guard. Good work.
Appleseed is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mendez can do to turn this around?
Appleseed stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Mendez throws up his legs and catches Appleseed in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Appleseed tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Mendez! That came out of nowhere!
