Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Mctanned (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Shephard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shephard has chosen You All Everybody as his entrance music. Jack Shephard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Mctanned!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Shephard!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Mctanned.
Shephard drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mctanned defends it well.
Shephard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Mctanned tries to counter with a takedown but Shephard is quick to defend against it.
Shephard throws a right hand that Mctanned ducks under and follows up with a left that Mctanned also avoids with ease.

Our spies down at at Combat Fitness inform us that Shephard has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Mctanned working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shephard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shephard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mctanned is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shephard is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mctanned doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shephard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mctanned slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shephard is not content to let Mctanned control the position.

Mctanned thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mctanned is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shephard sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Shephard paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Shephard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mctanned but Mctanned pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jack Shephard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mctanned appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Mctanned darts in looking for a takedown but Shephard gets double underhooks and turns Mctanned into the cage.

Shephard looks to land a right hand but Mctanned moved out of range.
Mctanned tries to counter with a takedown but Shephard is quick to defend against it.
Shephard lands a right hook to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Shephard misses the target.
Mctanned changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mctanned looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jack Shephard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mctanned shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mctanned showed some decent athleticism there.

Shephard has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mctanned is on him like a limpet, forcing Shephard back against the cage.
Mctanned is pressed up against the cage. Shephard has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mctanned down to the mat. Mctanned avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Shephard closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shephard lands in his opponent's guard.

Mctanned looking for subs off his back but Shephard has passed one foot through into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mctanned moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Mctanned is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mctanned looking for a sweep. Not yet Mctanned, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shephard lands a couple of digs.

Mctanned is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shephard defends well.

Shephard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mctanned swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mctanned has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shephard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mctanned can't keep his opponent in guard - Shephard advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mctanned is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mctanned is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shephard's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shephard's back!
Mctanned is not going to allow Shephard to sit and survive in this position.

I would just about give that final round to Jack Shephard.
I've got Shephard winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
