Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doug Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angus MacAngus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lake comes into the arena with My life be like oo-ah blaring out of the sound system. Angus MacAngus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Angus MacAngus!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


It looks like Angus MacAngus has been cut.

Lake controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

MacAngus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lake can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

MacAngus has his foot on Lake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lake works his way back into a safe position though.

MacAngus had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lake is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. MacAngus Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lake's back instead.
MacAngus wants to control but Lake is keeping busy.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as MacAngus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MacAngus on the ground.

Lake is squirming around, avoiding MacAngus's attempts to control the action.
Lake is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Lake is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
MacAngus misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Lake is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lake holds on to MacAngus as tight as he can, avoiding damage.
Lake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

MacAngus wants to finish this one by submission but Lake is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from MacAngus.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lake throws a nice head kick!
MacAngus throws a hook to the side of Lake's head but Lake sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Doug Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
MacAngus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown by MacAngus or perhaps it was just good defense by Lake which made him look bad.
Lake throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


That has opened up Angus MacAngus's cut even more.
Lake takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

The cut above Angus MacAngus's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Lake keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for Lake.
Lake throws a quick head kick that skims the top of MacAngus's head.
MacAngus throws out a loose jab but Lake uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lake throws a head kick that MacAngus semi-blocks.
MacAngus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lake tries to avoid it but MacAngus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lake to the ground. Lake escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lake throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Doug Lake is winning the standup battle so far.
Lake throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
MacAngus fails with a takedown attempt.
A punch lands to the side of MacAngus 's head but he takes it in his stride.
MacAngus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lake misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

MacAngus is trying desperately to land a takedown but Lake is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for MacAngus.
MacAngus doesn't manage to clinch there - Lake circles away.
MacAngus shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lake but Lake pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

MacAngus shoots in for a double leg but Lake sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

MacAngus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lake as he avoids it easily.

Lake fakes high and swings low for a body shot but MacAngus manages to avoid it.

MacAngus misses with a hook. Lake ducked under it nicely.
Lake fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt MacAngus.
MacAngus shoots for a double leg takedown but Lake sprawls well. He's pushed MacAngus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lake tries a head kick but it misses.
Lake throws a hook but MacAngus blocks it.
Doug Lake is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Doug Lake.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lake, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
