The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rhodes tries to keep at a distance but Sondo has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sondo has Rhodes pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Sondo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rhodes tumbling to the mat - Sondo dives into Rhodes's guard.
Sondo is looking to work some ground and pound but Rhodes has wrist control.
Sondo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sondo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sondo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jo Sondo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rhodes dives in for a single leg takedown but Sondo sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Rhodes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sondo avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sondo lands a left and a right that send Rhodes crashing to the mat, dazed. Sondo thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Rhodes is rocked!

It looks like Barton Rhodes has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Look low, kick high! Sondo uses the oldest trick in the book to send Rhodes tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Sondo is absolutely delighted - when Rhodes wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
