The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smakota throws a front kick that sends Mayhem stumbling back into the cage.
Smakota defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mayhem.
Mayhem tries to close the distance and clinch but Smakota swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Morgan Mayhem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mayhem displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smakota.
Smakota throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smakota shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mayhem sprawls well. Mayhem wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smakota gets slowly back to his feet.

Smakota tried to counter with a leg kick but Mayhem avoided it.

Smakota has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mayhem finds it's way round the side to connect with Smakota's head.

Smakota gets a clinch.
Mayhem is trying to break the clinch but Smakota has him pressed against the cage.
Mayhem drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smakota pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mayhem closes the distance and clinches up with Smakota, looking for a takedown. Mayhem pushes Smakota against the cage but Smakota circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smakota appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Smakota changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mayhem tries to avoid it but Smakota manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mayhem to the ground. Mayhem escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mayhem throws out a counter right but Smakota avoids it with no problem.
Smakota misses with a kick to the body.
Mayhem fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mayhem throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Smakota tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mayhem is in Smakota's guard.

Mayhem throws an elbow that misses. Smakota uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mayhem's guard. Nice move by Smakota!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Mayhem is looking to cinch up a triangle. Smakota throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mayhem's body to avoid the submission. Mayhem has instead reached around Smakota's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mayhem arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
