Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Coshak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dennis Reynolds!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reynolds looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Coshak!

Reynolds wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Coshak, who protects the arm well.
Coshak parries the strikes from Reynolds easily there. Reynolds is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Coshak to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reynolds throws a strike aimed at the side of Coshak's head but Coshak avoids it well.
Reynolds cracks Coshak with a big elbow.

Reynolds is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Coshak has escaped the position, nice work there.
Reynolds trying to control the position but Coshak is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reynolds scores with a couple of short elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reynolds lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reynolds is chipping away with strikes.
Coshak is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Reynolds's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Reynolds wants to free his trapped foot but Coshak is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Coshak regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Reynolds.
Reynolds trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Reynolds wants to control from the top but Coshak keeps moving.

Reynolds drops back, looking for a kneebar! Coshak looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Coshak looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Coshak!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Coshak stands up.

Reynolds closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Coshak did well to prevent Reynolds getting side control.
Reynolds landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Coshak looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Reynolds seems to be looking for submissions.
Reynolds stalling away here and it's allowed Coshak to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reynolds pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Coshak is keeping the position for now.
Coshak can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Reynolds controls the pace.
Reynolds postures up and lands a big shot to Coshak's brow.
Coshak seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Reynolds's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Reynolds trying to stand up but can't free himself from Coshak's guard.
Reynolds postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Reynolds drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Coshak dives on top into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reynolds wants to sweep here but Coshak controlling him for the moment.
Reynolds pulls Coshak in to control the position.
Coshak wants to control from the top but Reynolds keeps moving.

Reynolds pushes a forearm under Coshak's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Coshak is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dennis Reynolds!
Dennis Reynolds was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
