PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luh Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pedro Pete had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pedro Pete!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luh Sosa!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sosa tries to sprawl but Pete drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Pete perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sosa is looking to escape.

Pete stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Pete closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sosa to the mat! Sosa manages to get full guard.
Pete sitting in guard, not really doing much.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pete seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sosa for as long as he can get away with.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sosa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pete is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pete slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pete stands up and waves to Sosa to follow him.
Sosa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sosa throws a head kick that misses.
Pete half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Sosa looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Pete throws a sloppy head kick and Sosa moves out of range easily.

Pete closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sosa quickly recovers to half guard.

Pete is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pete is nestled in close to Sosa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Pete working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Pete content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Pete has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Pete stops Sosa from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pete lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Pete performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sosa tries to kick Pete off but Pete keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, if Pete is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pete slips a nice elbow through Sosa's hands, connecting with Sosa's forehead.
Pete wants to free his trapped foot but Sosa is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pete connects with a nice short shot to Sosa's temple.
Pete looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Pete lands with a punch from half guard.

Pete seems to be working for a kimura but Sosa defends the submission attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedro Pete dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sosa throws a sloppy head kick and Pete moves out of range easily.

Pete decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Pete stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Sosa to get to his feet.
Sosa throws a head kick that Pete semi-blocks.


It looks like Pedro Pete has been cut.
Sosa walks into a jab.

Sosa clinches with his opponent.
Pete stalling in the clinch.
Pete keeps control of Sosa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Pete is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sosa can do to turn this around?

Pete's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Pete shoots in and gets a takedown into Sosa's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sosa scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Sosa throws a body shot but no joy.
Luh Sosa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sosa changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Pete fails with a takedown attempt.
Sosa tries a head kick but it misses.

Pete changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sosa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Pete cracks Sosa with a big elbow.
Sosa is breathing heavily.

Pete wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sosa, who protects the arm well.

Pete stands up and beckons Sosa to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pete doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sosa counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Pete feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sosa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pete is controlling him.

Sosa manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sosa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sosa misses with a double jab.

Pete looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sosa!

Pete stands up.

Pete closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sosa tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pete is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Pete working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sosa turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Pete off and cradles Sosa's limp body as Pete celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Pedro Pete!
