The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emenochukwu is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Newman.
It looks like Chineye Emenochukwu has been cut.
We've been hearing reports that Emenochukwu has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Newman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Newman cracks Emenochukwu with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Emenochukwu throws out a loose jab but Newman uses good head movement to avoid it.

Emenochukwu shoots in looking for a takedown but Newman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Emenochukwu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Emenochukwu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Newman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Emenochukwu is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Newman's half guard.

Newman is trying to escape the mount but Emenochukwu keeps good control and instead manages to take Newman's back.
I would not like to be Newman right now.

Emenochukwu slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Newman has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Emenochukwu.
Emenochukwu looking to break Newman's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Newman remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Emenochukwu will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
