Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Virgulino Ferreira!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferreira looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Copeland had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ferreira defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Copeland has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ferreira can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ferreira avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Copeland is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ferreira gets to his feet. Copeland looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Copeland is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ferreira is defending well.
Copeland jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ferreira walks away with a smile on his face. Copeland gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edward Copeland. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Copeland throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ferreira wants to counter with a clinch but Copeland pushes him away.

Ferreira drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ferreira gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Ferreira fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Copeland sprawls well initially but Ferreira persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ferreira is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Copeland has managed to free his arm - good work.
Well, if Ferreira is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ferreira thows a huge punch but Copeland dodges it nicely.
Ferreira is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
It looks like Ferreira might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ferreira shoots in and bounces Copeland off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ferreira won't allow Copeland to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Copeland looking for a sweep. Not yet Copeland, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Virgulino Ferreira dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ferreira gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Copeland not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Virgulino Ferreira has got the better of the ground game so far.

Copeland is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Copeland has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ferreira should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Copeland has tightened it up now! Ferreira should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
