PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Chandler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Tom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Lucas Chandler has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lucas Chandler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tom Tom!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tom closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tom working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Chandler blocking the ground and pound attempt from Tom.
Tom stops Chandler from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tom is nestled in close to Chandler, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Tom wants to pass to mount but Chandler is defending the position.
Chandler wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Tom drives through and clinches with Chandler against the cage.

Tom gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Chandler is looking to stand up but Tom isn't so interested in that idea.
Tom has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tom slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

It looks like Tom might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Tom is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Chandler has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Chandler is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Tom lands a heavy elbow.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Chandler connects with a nice looking jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chandler is defended easily by Tom.
Chandler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tom closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chandler did well to prevent Tom getting side control.
Tom lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Tom seems to be working for a kimura but Chandler defends the submission attempt.
Chandler wants to get back to his feet.

Let's hope that Tom has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Tom is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chandler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tom tries to pass to full mount but Chandler defends it.
Tom is controlling the pace.
Chandler is looking to get back to is feet but Tom passes into side control.

Tom trying to control the position but Chandler is working away.
Check out the look on Tom's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Tom is trying to get an arm triangle but Chandler is defending well.
Tom remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tom lands a nice forearm strike.
Tom has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Chandler is trying to stand.

Tom tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Chandler is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Tom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Chandler wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Lucas Chandler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Chandler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tom on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Tom takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Chandler is looking to stand up but Tom won't let him.

Tom is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chandler is trying to stand.
Tom is taking a breather. Chandler says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Chandler looks like he's trying to stand up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tom with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Chandler is trying to stand.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Chandler swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chandler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Chandler throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

I would just about give that final round to Tom Tom.
I've got Tom winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
