The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paddy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Paddy lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paddy pushes down on Joan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Paddy lands strikes from half guard.
Paddy lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Paddy is nestled in close to Joan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Paddy slips a nice elbow through Joan's hands, connecting with Joan's forehead.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Paddy in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Paddy is working away from the top position though.

Paddy maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Joan could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Paddy has cracked it and Joan is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Paddy!
