PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Blade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Chow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jackson Blade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Chow!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blade closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Blade lands in his opponent's guard.
Blade sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chow manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Blade manages to get himself to full guard.
Blade controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chow trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Blade could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Blade pulls Chow in close to prevent any damage.
Blade knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chow on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jackson Blade just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Chow has taken the fight to the clinch.
Blade tries to land a knee to the head but Chow blocks with his arms.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Chow throws a knee to the head but misses.
Chow takes a knee right on the jaw!
Blade lands an elbow inside.
Nice elbow from Blade.
Nice elbow from Blade.
Blade creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Blade with a knee to the head.
Chow looks gassed!
Blade managing to block the knees to the body from Chow.
Chow takes an elbow to the forehead.
Blade with a knee to the head.
Blade drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chow pulls his leg out and moves away.
Blade closes the distance and clinches up with Chow, looking for a takedown. Blade pushes Chow against the cage but Chow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Blade fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jackson Blade. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chow is looking to clinch.
Chow throws a head kick that misses.
Chow tries to clinch up.

Blade closes the distance and clinches.

Blade jumps guard.
Blade wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Chow manages to pass to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chow is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Blade!
Blade really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chow can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Blade is looking to escape.
Blade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Blade is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Chow wants to take his opponent's back but Blade doesn't allow it.
Blade can't escape the position.
Chow trying to control but Blade is having none of it.
Blade working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson Blade dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Chow is looking to clinch but Blade is avoiding it.

Blade rushes Chow and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Chow takes an elbow to the forehead.
Chow crunches a lovely knee into Blade's ribcage.
Chow tries to land knees in the clinch but Blade avoids the damage to the body.
Chow misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Blade.
Chow using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Blade has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Blade fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Chow takes an elbow to the forehead.
Nice elbow from Blade.
Blade jumps guard but Chow stands there with Blade around his waist. Blade gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Blade creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Chow's defenses.
Blade lands an elbow inside.
Chow tries to land knees in the clinch but Blade avoids the damage to the body.
Chow takes a knee right on the jaw!
Blade scores with a knee to the head.

Blade gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chow regains guard.
Blade trying to control the position from guard on top but Chow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chow is working an open guard so Blade takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chow tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Blade counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Blade.
Knees in the clinch landing for Chow.

Blade turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Blade manages to end up in side control.
Blade tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Blade is staying tight to Chow's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Chow is looking to regain half guard here but Blade keeps moving and retains side control.

Blade stands up.
Jackson Blade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chow tries to clinch up
and Blade counters with a nice body shot.
Blade circles away from the clinch attempt

and Blade counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Chow trying to control here.
Blade controlling the pace.
Chow gets full guard.
Chow looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Chow is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Chow keeping moving, preventing Blade from controlling successfully.
Chow trying to keep a closed guard but Blade is proving a slippery customer.
Chow tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Blade controls from within his opponent's guard.
Blade has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Blade shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chow but Chow pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jackson Blade. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Blade throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Blade misses with a knee to the head.
Blade tries a knee to the head but Chow blocks it.
Chow unloads a knee to the mid-section. Blade lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Chow lands a nice elbow.
Chow lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Jackson Blade has been cut.
Chow tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Blade misses with a knee strike.

Blade drags the fight down to the ground.
Chow wants to control from the top but Blade keeps moving.
Chow wants to pass the guard but Blade is keeping the position.
Chow pushing down on Blade's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Blade is trying to control but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Chow is working for a submission of some sort.
Blade has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chow is working away from the top position though.

Chow is pressing down on Blade's thigh, looking to free his foot. Blade is holding on for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Blade.
Chow tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Blade wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Chow manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Chow is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Chow is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chow trying to hold on to Blade's head to control him but Blade postures up.
Chow is looking for a sweep. Blade is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Blade controlling the action here.
Chow moves into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Blade trying to control but Chow is working from the bottom.
Chow managing to control the position.
Steven Chow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chow lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Blade!
Jackson Blade is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Chow is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Blade can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Steven Chow.
I think Blade has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
