PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rikki Tavi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bert Drago told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Drago works Tavi's body with a nice hook.
Drago scores with a jab to the body.
Drago dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Tavi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Drago has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Drago is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Tavi rather than just go for the knockout.

A decent looking cross lands there for Drago.

Tavi appears to be looking for a big counter.
Tavi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Drago lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tavi at a distance.

Drago throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Tavi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Drago bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Drago scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Drago lands with an overhand left.
The crowd cheers as Drago lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tavi doesn't seem phased though.
Bert Drago is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Drago tests Tavi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Drago misses with a body shot.
It looked like Tavi was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Drago connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Tavi's hands.
Drago connects with a body shot that sends Tavi's belly button to the back.
Drago sizes up Tavi with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Tavi is rocked!
Drago circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Tavi tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Drago wins by KO!

In his post fight interview, Bert Drago started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
