PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragon comes to the cage accompanied by my life. The key to victory for Jake Dragon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thunder shoots in and drives through. Dragon sprawls well.
Dragon fails with the takedown.

Thunder gets caught flat footed, as Dragon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Thunder looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Dragon trying to control the position from guard on top but Thunder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dragon wants to pass the guard but Thunder is keeping the position.

Thunder tries to buck Dragon off but Dragon is having none of it.

Thunder throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dragon escapes and throws Thunder's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Dragon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Dragon is looking to take a break and control but Thunder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Thunder manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dragon's best efforts.

Dragon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dragon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Thunder has hold of Dragon's hands but Dragon slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Thunder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Thunder manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dragon manages to get himself to full guard.

Thunder drops back looking for a leg! Dragon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dragon manages to kick Thunder off! Thunder jumps back into Dragon's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Dragon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thunder looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

A close round but Johnny Thunder will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dragon lands a nice short elbow.
Jake Dragon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dragon uses his free foot to push down on Thunder's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Thunder.

Dragon stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Thunder tries to clinch but Dragon moves out of range.

Dragon fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Thunder has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Dragon regains guard immediately.

Dragon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Thunder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Thunder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Dragon scores with a takedown into Thunder's guard.

Dragon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Thunder, up you get!

Dragon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thunder's head.
Thunder is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Thunder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thunder quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Dragon has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Thunder celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
