Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Garland Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Garland Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Keith Glenn!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Glenn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nixon did well to prevent Glenn getting side control.
Nixon keeping hold of Glenn's head, controlling as best he can.
Nixon tries to get to full guard but Glenn has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Glenn stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Glenn frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Nixon gets back to half guard.

Glenn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Glenn working over Nixon with some ground and pound. Nixon looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Nixon is trying to control but can't.
Nixon tries to kick Glenn off but Glenn keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Nixon tries to roll over but Glenn keeps him under control.
Glenn is thwarting Nixon's attempts to control the position.
Nixon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Glenn on the ground.
Nixon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Glenn slows the pace down in half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Glenn trying to control the action but Nixon is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Glenn shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nixon is trying to defend but Glenn finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Nixon wants to get back to full guard.
Glenn winds up and cracks Nixon with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Glenn is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nixon scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Glenn looks winded!

Nixon has closed the distance and engaged Glenn in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keith Glenn dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Glenn gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Nixon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Glenn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nixon's guard.
Nixon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Glenn lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Nixon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Glenn controls the pace.

Nixon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Glenn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Glenn wants to control from the top but Nixon keeps moving.

Nixon is trying to control the position but Glenn postures up.

Keith Glenn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nixon lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Nixon, right into the meat.
Glenn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nixon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Glenn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Glenn tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Glenn has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Nixon.

Glenn throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nixon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Glenn is in Nixon's guard.
Nixon is trying to control the position but Glenn postures up.
Nixon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nixon has his foot on Glenn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Glenn works his way back into a safe position though.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Keith Glenn has got the better of the ground game so far.

Glenn gets to his feet. Nixon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Glenn closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nixon quickly recovers to half guard.
Glenn uses his free foot to push down on Nixon's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nixon.
Nixon is trying desperately to improve position.

Nixon tries to hold on but Glenn pushes him away.
Nixon is wriggling around trying to escape.

Nixon takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Nixon's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Nixon is in a horrible position here. Glenn smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Nixon is squirming around, avoiding Glenn's attempts to control the action.

Glenn is working for a guillotine from mount but Nixon frees his head quite easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Glenn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nixon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Glenn has managed to get both his arms back between Nixon's legs - danger averted.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Glenn keeps the fight on the outside.
Glenn drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nixon defends it well.

Nixon lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like Keith Glenn has been cut.

Glenn shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Nixon works his way to full guard. Good work.

Nixon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Glenn manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Glenn can do anything to dispel that myth.
Nixon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
