PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mohammed Babak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaspar Kohler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Babak comes to the cage accompanied by Lose yourself - Eminem. The crowd seem to be enjoying Kohler's choice of entrance music: Bang - Glass shattering song. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mohammed Babak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kaspar Kohler!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Babak shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kohler manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Kohler is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kohler is looking for a triangle but Babak pushes his legs off easily.
Kohler has momentary wrist control but Babak slips an elbow through the middle.
Kohler lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kohler passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Kohler thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Babak is trying to get back to half guard.
Babak is working hard here to advance position.

Kohler goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Babak has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kohler but great work by Babak.

Kohler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Babak wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Babak throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Kohler works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Babak is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kohler has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Holding Cell. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Babak postures up and lands a big shot to Kohler's brow.

Babak lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Babak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kohler on the ground.

Babak got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kohler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Babak has managed to get both his arms back between Kohler's legs - danger averted.

Babak has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kohler to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Babak is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kohler pulls down on the head and he's put Babak to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kaspar Kohler!
Kaspar Kohler opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
In defeat, Mohammed Babak stepped up to the mic, saying 'I am very impressed by Kaspars performance, but I will work my way up again, for sure.'.
