Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brad Opie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drunken Piaso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brad Opie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brad Opie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Drunken Piaso!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Opie gets caught flat footed, as Piaso shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Opie manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Piaso looking to slow down the pace here.

Piaso gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Opie regains guard.
Opie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've been hearing good reports from Opie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Opie wants to improve his position but Piaso is controlling well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Piaso leaves Opie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Piaso tries to close the distance and clinch but Opie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Opie seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Piaso postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Opie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Piaso, into his guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Drunken Piaso dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Opie enables Piaso to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Opie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well Piaso has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
