Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Rawlings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knob Shiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dave Rawlings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Knob Shiner!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shiner digs a good body shot into Rawlings's ribs.
Shiner misses with a looping left.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rawlings looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shiner swats away the attempt to clinch by Rawlings.
Shiner keeps the fight on the outside.

Rawlings takes the fight into the clinch.
Shiner has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Rawlings wants to break the clinch but can't.
Shiner has had enough of the clinch but Rawlings keeps him there for the moment.

Rawlings breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shiner scores with a sloppy right hand. Rawlings should have avoided that one.


It looks like Dave Rawlings has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rawlings tries to clinch but Shiner moves out of range.

Shiner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rawlings.

Knob Shiner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rawlings gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rawlings moves in looking to clinch but Shiner pushes him off.
Rawlings bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Shiner throws a looping overhand right but Rawlings ducks down to avoid it.

Rawlings displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shiner throws out the jab.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Shiner wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rawlings misses with some punches.
Shiner blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Shiner is trying to break the clinch but Rawlings is controlling him.

A nice right hand lands inside from Rawlings.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Shiner has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Shiner tries to break free but Rawlings pushes him back against the cage.

Rawlings misses with a hook from the clinch.
Rawlings will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Shiner up against the cage.
Rawlings keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Shiner's efforts to push away.

A frustrated look appears on Shiner's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Rawlings looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Rawlings's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shiner throws a poor cross that misses
and Rawlings counters with a leg kick.

Shiner gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rawlings wants to pass the guard but Shiner is keeping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shiner can do anything to dispel that myth.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rawlings accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rawlings in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Shiner wants to stand but Rawlings is controlling the position.
Rawlings tries to free his leg and advance position but Shiner is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Rawlings dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dave Rawlings's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Rawlings moves out of range of the strikes.
Rawlings tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Shiner counters with a right hand to the body.
Rawlings ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Rawlings tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shiner swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shiner might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Shiner swats away the attempt to clinch by Rawlings.
Shiner looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Rawlings fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rawlings takes a jab right on the kisser.
Rawlings takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Shiner now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Rawlings. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shiner cracks Rawlings with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Rawlings looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Shiner finish him?
Rawlings walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Shiner! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Knob Shiner!
A very excited looking Knob Shiner made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
