Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Red Nose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Red Nose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Cox!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cox drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Nose can't do much from the bottom here.
Nose tries to bench press Cox off him but Cox keeps the position.
Cox working away.
Nose is looking for a sweep.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nose is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Nose trying to control here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nose gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Cox counters with a left to the body.
Nose is breathing heavily.

and Cox counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nose really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nose is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cox tries to stand but Nose is controlling from the bottom.

Cox has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nose is proving hard to escape from.
Nose has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Cox wanted to stand there but Nose had control of the position.
Nose will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nose manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cox manages to get himself to full guard.
Nose trying to control the position from guard on top but Cox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nose is in close to Cox's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Cox working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nose.
Nose won't allow Cox to get back to his feet.
Cox keeping moving, preventing Nose from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Cox dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nose tries to land a body kick

and Cox counters with a takedown into side control.
Nose wants to control but Cox postures up.
Nose trying his best to control but Cox has mounted him.
Nose is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nose swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nose wants to control but Cox is having none of it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Red Nose just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Nose with a poor takedown

and Cox counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nose!
Nose wants to hold on but Cox pushes him away.

Cox get's back to his feet.
Nose closes the distance looking to clinch
and Cox counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cox shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Nose is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cox is refusing to be controlled, as Nose sits in half guard.
Nose slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cox manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Nose fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cox, pushing him back against the cage.
Cox managing to block the knees to the body from Nose.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Nose will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Cox up against the cage.
Cox on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
With the fighters up against the cage, Nose throws an elbow but misses.
Cox tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nose just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nose tightens his grip and picks Cox up, before dumping him to the ground. Cox manages to land in guard.
Cox working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nose.
Nose throwing strikes from guard but Cox blocks nicely.
Nose with a flurry of punches that miss.
Cox preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cox has a closed guard, preventing Nose from standing up.

Cox has his feet on Nose's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Cox showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


A low kick from Nose is predictable there

and Cox counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cox tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Nose.

Nose looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nose wants to control but Cox is keeping busy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nose throws a strike from the bottom but Cox passes into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nose is looking for a sweep.
Mike Cox has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nose struggling a bit here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cox shoots and misses

and Nose counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cox's guard now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nose wants to control from the top but Cox keeps moving.
Cox preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cox wants to stand and escape but Nose is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nose wants to control from the top but Cox keeps moving.
Nose postures up in Cox's guard and throws a big left but Cox blocks it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nose tries to clinch but Cox moves away

and Cox holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Nose dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Nose wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nose has had enough of the clinch but Cox keeps him there for the moment.
Cox avoids the elbow strike from Nose, against the cage.
Cox blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Nose tries to work over Cox's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Nose breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cox shoots in but no luck this time.
Red Nose has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nose will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cox circles away from the clinch attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Red Nose.
I think Cox has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
