Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angelo Giles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Fitzgerald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Giles shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Giles showed some decent athleticism there.
Fitzgerald looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Giles is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Giles is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Giles is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fitzgerald sees it coming and defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Giles is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fitzgerald has managed to free his arm - good work.

Fitzgerald tries to keep at a distance but Giles has taken the fight into the clinch.
Giles has Fitzgerald pressed against the cage, preventing Fitzgerald from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Giles just misses with a elbow thrown towards Fitzgerald's brow.
Fitzgerald told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Giles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fitzgerald has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Giles regains guard immediately.

Giles's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Fitzgerald wants to control from the top but Giles keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Fitzgerald shoots in and gets a takedown into Giles's guard.

Giles looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fitzgerald is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Giles throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Fitzgerald wants to break the clinch but can't.

Giles is fighting off a takedown attempt but Fitzgerald is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Giles to the mat. Giles regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Giles holds on and takes a little breather.
Giles has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Giles.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fitzgerald tries to clinch up

so Giles counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Giles postures up and lands a big shot to Fitzgerald's brow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fitzgerald has momentary wrist control but Giles slips an elbow through the middle.

Giles gets to his feet. Fitzgerald looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Giles's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Giles seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Giles gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Fitzgerald blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Giles is pushing Fitzgerald up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Fitzgerald wants to break free but Giles has control.

Fitzgerald turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Fitzgerald manages to end up in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Giles explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Giles lands with a right that hurts Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald looks to clinch but Giles throws a short knee that drops Fitzgerald. This one is all over!
