Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucien Avery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Vettel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyler Vettel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Vettel misses
and Avery counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
A combination from Vettel does no damage.

Avery clinches up with Vettel and pushes him back against the cage.

Avery jumps into guard, dragging Vettel to the mat.
Vettel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Avery works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Avery could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vettel prevents Avery from getting back to his feet.
Vettel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vettel looking to sit in guard and control but Avery gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Avery cracks Vettel with a solid left hand.
Vettel wants to stand but Avery is controlling the position.
Vettel is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Avery dives into side control.
Vettel wants to get back to his feet but Avery drags him back down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Avery goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vettel has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Avery but great work by Vettel.
Avery might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vettel tries to move into full mount but can't pass Avery's legs.
Avery pushes Vettel away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Vettel gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vettel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Avery has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Vettel is on him like a limpet, forcing Avery back against the cage.
Vettel wants to break free but Avery has control.
Avery is trying to pull guard but Vettel turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Vettel looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Vettel is pressed up against the cage. Avery has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vettel down to the mat. Vettel avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Vettel shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Avery manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Avery is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vettel is controlling him.
Vettel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Vettel looking to sit in guard and control but Avery gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vettel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Avery is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vettel is wriggling around but Avery manages to pass to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Avery tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vettel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
As Avery backs off Vettel throws a huge counter combo but Avery manages to avoid it all.
Avery drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

It looks like Lucien Avery has been cut.
Vettel fails in his attempt to clinch.
Vettel misses with a double jab
and Avery counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Avery is defended easily by Vettel.
Avery takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Oooooh!!! Vettel has knocked Avery down with a huge combo! Vettel steps away and waves a wobbly Avery back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
