Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cecil Cooke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hikaru Kawagishi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cecil Cooke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hikaru Kawagishi!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawagishi fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cooke went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Kawagishi looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Kawagishi keeps the fight on the outside.

Cooke shoots in and gets a takedown into Kawagishi's guard.
Cooke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cooke is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kawagishi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Cooke goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kawagishi rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cooke's guard! Nice work there by Kawagishi!

Cooke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kawagishi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cooke has his foot on Kawagishi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kawagishi works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kawagishi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cooke has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kawagishi has managed to get both his arms back between Cooke's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kawagishi wants to control from the top but Cooke keeps moving.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Cooke is looking to clinch.
Cooke tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Cooke fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kawagishi sprawls well initially but Cooke persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cooke is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kawagishi sees it coming and defends easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cooke is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Kawagishi keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Cooke wants to work for an arm triangle but Kawagishi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cooke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kawagishi moves away.

Kawagishi rushes Cooke and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Kawagishi has had enough of the clinch but Cooke keeps him there for the moment.
Cooke has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kawagishi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Cooke tightens his grip and picks Kawagishi up, before dumping him to the ground. Kawagishi manages to land in guard.
We've been informed that Kawagishi has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kawagishi is on top in guard.

Cooke is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Kawagishi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cooke paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cooke attempts a counter takedown but Kawagishi avoids it well and moves away.

Cooke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kawagishi defends it well.

Kawagishi pushes Cooke off looking to stand but Cooke dives back in and keeps control.

Cooke looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kawagishi wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cooke tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kawagishi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cooke somewhat.

Cooke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kawagishi's waist but Kawagishi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cooke off to one side.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cecil Cooke. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hikaru Kawagishi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kawagishi darts in and clinches Cooke up against the cage.

Cooke breaks from the clinch.

Cooke throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kawagishi was covering up waiting for the punch and Cooke finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cooke, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
