Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jutta Urpilainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urpilainen comes into the arena with A Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash blaring out of the sound system. Jutta Urpilainen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 3, fighting out of New York, Jutta Urpilainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mendes has clasped his hands together around Urpilainen's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Mendes stands up and beckons Urpilainen to his feet.
Mendes throws a half hearted mid kick.

and Mendes makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Urpilainen really felt that one!
Urpilainen throws a hook to the side of Mendes's head but Mendes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mendes is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Urpilainen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mendes circles away.

Urpilainen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Urpilainen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Urpilainen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mendes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Urpilainen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

I would just about give that final round to Jake Mendes.
I think Mendes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
