The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sigfreud shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ayala has his foot on Sigfreud's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sigfreud works his way back into a safe position though.

Sigfreud stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ayala swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sigfreud postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ayala is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sigfreud, into his guard.

Sigfreud seems to be working for a kimura but Ayala defends the submission attempt.
Ayala pushes Sigfreud off looking to stand but Sigfreud dives back in and keeps control.

Sigfreud seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ayala does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ayala could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sigfreud looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ayala with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ayala wants to get back to his feet.

Sigfreud is working for a submission of some sort.
Sigfreud thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Sigfreud wants to free his trapped foot but Ayala is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sigfreud thows a huge punch but Ayala dodges it nicely.

Sigfreud breaks from Ayala's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Ayala flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Svenn Sigfreud dominated that round.
That's time! Ayala's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sigfreud feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sigfreud can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sigfreud working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ayala doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sigfreud is tightening it up a little... Ayala has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ayala reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ayala taps out! Nice BJJ there by Sigfreud!
