Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeffson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asher Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Cliff Richard - Summer Holiday. Asher Lee will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 29 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeffson Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Asher Lee!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee lands a nice looking body shot.
Lee throws a shot from downtown. Gracie moves away and avoids it.
Gracie half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Gracie has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Warehouse in the buildup to the fight.
Gracie looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Asher Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gracie gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gracie successfully pulls guard.
Lee wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.
Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lee wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lee is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.

Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lee doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is stalling here. Lee is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gracie seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lee has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Lee stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lee will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Gracie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sloppy strikes from Lee. Those never looked like landing.

Lee throws a body shot but no joy.
Gracie was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Asher Lee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gracie darts in looking for a takedown but Lee gets double underhooks and turns Gracie into the cage.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lee! But no joy.
Gracie on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Gracie dives in and grabs Lee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeffson Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Lee cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A punch lands to the side of Gracie 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Lee tries to keep at a distance but Gracie has taken the fight into the clinch.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gracie dives in for a single leg takedown but Lee sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

enabling Gracie to counter with a crisp jab.
Gracie jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Lee feints the counter takedown.
Lee scores with a punch to the head.
Lee connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Lee throws a body shot but no joy.
Lee thuds a left hand into Gracie's body.
A left lands for Lee.
Lee throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gracie.

and Gracie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lee has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

It looked like Gracie wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away.

Asher Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Jeffson Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
